Overview
This project involved creating an interactive recycling guide for Oslo Kommune, designed to enhance waste sorting for residents and visitors. The PDF and graphics were crafted using Canva, and the interactive flipbook was developed with Heyzine Flip Books. This guide not only simplifies the process of sorting waste and locating recycling bins but also transforms static content into a visually engaging and user-friendly experience. Targeted at anyone looking to make their website or educational content more engaging, this specific example is particularly useful for Oslo residents who may occasionally be unsure about waste disposal. The guide has been well-received, with positive feedback highlighting its practicality and design: "What a beautiful & helpful design! This is very useful, exactly what I would have needed when I was a new resident in Norway. Thank you! 🌍💚"

The color palette was chosen based on the main colors of the plastic bags used for plastic waste, food waste, and residual waste in Norway. Each waste category is assigned a specific color, some matching the colors of the official recycling bins. This approach was used to visually distinguish the categories, making it easier for users to identify each type of waste and navigate the guide. The clear color-coding enhances readability and simplifies the process of finding the relevant pages, improving the overall user experience.
The interactive guidebook can be explored by flipping through the pages to discover Oslo’s waste categories. Pictures, concise descriptions, and instructions are provided for each type of trash. Bin colors, location details, and instructions on finding recycling points in the city are included to make the guide both educational and practical for Oslo residents and visitors.
